Good ol' boy accountability for Brad Winter

Brad Winter made some bad decisions.

He and others sat around a table and made the decisions
that resulted in the building of a new and completely
unjustifiable board room;

while at the same time, saving money by
avoiding remediation of real violations of the fire code.

He refuses to explain, defend or even acknowledge
that betrayal of stakeholder trust.

Accordingly, Winston Brooks has held him accountable
by means of a promotion and a raise.

Neither, will permit a full scale forensic audit
of the leadership of the APS.

Neither, will utter the words aloud.

I used to hear things about what account type can be used on what, or that grant money of certain types can only be spent on this not that. When I was trying to get more money for the APS Police dispatchers and police as a Union rep who sat at the negotiating table, we were allowed to have an FOP accountant guy go over the APS books to make sure there was no extra cash to be had for some raises or some cars or some training.

Does that still happen, has the EVIDENCE of corruption been in the hands of the FOP every negotiating session, but they were just looking for salary money, not CORRUPTION? I bet the good old boys laugh loud and hard if they give the evidence to the cops every year and they are too stupid to find the rip offs.

The other thing about Brad is that he is a City Council guy, so maybe that has some redeeming ring of approval, although the Eye might disagree. The City has its corrupt officials as well.

Brad has the unique nexus point of being in both City and School Government. His wife is a lawyer. She makes money from both the city and the schools if they hire her. The question is if there is any OVERT and OFFICIAL pressure by Brad to steer business his wife's way.

If Brad has not made the decisions on who hires lawyers for APS and the CITY, then his hands may actually be clean in this. People who are movers and shakers and decide which lawyers work for APS and the City? THOSE guys need to be looked at with a diamond hard glare and with a forensic microscope by cops, city/school auditors and the District Attorney's Office.

If those people are "part of it" then we are really screwed. If the DA and the cops are corrupt, taking money and letting the rich run things, then the only way to fight back is with MORE money.

I HOPE that the cops and government lawyers and auditors are just ... slow....not corrupt. But as we know from being in education, the slow ones can often catch up quite nicely, thank you very much! I hope they catch up.
