There was a time when if a public official didn't want to answer hardball questions from Larry Barker, they had to slam a door in his face to get him to back off.
Now all they have to do is ring up Michelle Donaldson
and tell her to tell Larry to mind his own business.
That is why after Larry's huge expose on fire code violations,
we still don't know the name of the APS administrator
who wrote the letter to Modrall, ordering Modrall lawyers
to write the letter to the fire marshal, that ended
fire safety inspections in APS schools and classrooms.
Thereby saving enough money to build a completely
unnecessary and still unjustified million dollar boardroom.
Who dunit? Mr. Barker.

this happened in Florida, where I lived there years ago.
There were scandals involving County Commishioners reducing/laying off Fire Fighters in all the neighborhoods, but hers. Some fire fighters went to the media. The 1st day it was so hyped, then POOF! Some threats were made, and it all just "went away".
Another involved some TV statitions and radios were presenting a story where a dentist had brutalized and disfigured young girls and purposesly allowed treatments to not be administered so more expensive care could be performed. While the media were exposing his past misdeeds and he sat in jail for massive tax evasion, a couple of calls to the American Denistry Assiciation and EVERYONE was shut up immediately.
Lawyers and the rich have clout...tremendous clout. And when big professional associations (like PAula's Media ORganization) are involved intimidation becomes a real devastating threat to the best of people.
I keep getting the feeling that there's something beyond New MExico here... this is too big, too much money, too much power getting involved... more than a city the size of Albuquerque could muster.
I sincerely think there is some kind of organized criminal element here, with some kind of big guns involved.
We need BADASSES fighting the fight. People with real power and allies in Homeland Security, the FBI, and the State Police. We need the DA to be a kick ass chick, who will shoot you in the head if you try to kidnap her family. We need some sheriffs and cops who will go all out.
The BCSD made me proud to have had the honor of going to their academy when they pulled out all the stops and brought the vato who killed McGrane to Justice. I felt good when APD put the pieces together and brought in the dude who killed Smith and King(Not to mention the civilians he killed).
I am just a disabled school security guard who carried a special deputy commission, but I felt like the actual gun carrying cops could get it RIGHT when it counted in those two cases. Their own had been shot down, and they were going to bring the fuckers who did it in ALIVE to face trial.
I hope that happens with this here situation, but maybe it really is too big for a vigilante journalist like Ched to expose - too damn huge of a corrupt pile of inter-related dirty money and the lawyers and someone who has been screwing New Mexico over from afar, does not want to stop getting the skim.
Just think what the skim would be on our land trust, if you could take that and put it in your own account. Maybe the billion bucks APS handles is just a good way to launder money, and organized crime does not want us messing that up?
I have seen how people who don't want you messing up their illegal money source act - they send legal and actual thugs after you. I am a former school cop, I got taught by BCSD academy staff how to deal with those things. But I bet thugs would intimidate most principals. And when your cops are gunless, and the armed cops won't respond, I bet it would be easy for a mob guy to use a school fund to launder money.
My fear, of course, is that Osama and The Base are using APS or whatever large corrupt district to launder THIER cash. Just think if the bad guys are the BIG bad guys - not just the Mob or some local thugs!
