We should not be so worried that our children are not always listening to us

as we should be worried that they are always watching us.

Being a role model, is not the result of a choice to be
a role model.

Any one, who does any thing, within the sight
of an impressionable other person,
has role modeled.

Student athletes are role models.

If they are negative role models,
then they should be held accountable.

But so should those who hold the athlete accountable,
be accountable themselves,
to a meaningful standard of conduct.

They are obligated (whether they choose to be or not)

to model honest accountability
to a meaningful standard of conduct.

If they are not willing to model that accountability,
they have forfeited the moral authority
to hold students accountable for anything at all.

moral authority

And that is why students are in charge in schools,

and that is why schools are out of control,

and that why schools fail to succeed.
