The Tribune is taking a poll on the APS administrative shuffle. Seems like I'm not the only one that doesn't think that this plan is the right approach.
What do you think of the APS plan to shuffle principals among 25 schools?
- A great plan. 18%
- A mixed bag: Some schools will improve, some won't. 25%
- Lots of movement; little effect. 53%
- Good idea in general, but I hate losing my school's principal.2%
"If you want people with you on landing;
they need to be with you at take off." unk.
Once again the leadership of the APS has left stakeholders behind in the decision making process.
For twenty five years I've waited for the leadership of the APS to involve stakeholders meaningfully in the decision making process. I'm still waiting.
There is only evidence of their unswerving insistance on making every single decision themselves.
Apparently the leadership of the APS has forgotten;
or perhaps they never accepted that;
No one of us, is as smart as all of us;
not even the best principal in the APS.

I went to a few police management classes that talked about how there are two opposing theories on familiarity with a "jurisdiction".
One, you want the community police (community principal) to know the beat as well as s/he can. If the bad guys take down and switch street signs, you need to still get to the right address if your buddy is getting his ass kicked there. By the same token, if you don't know the dynamics of an educational community, you can get yer butt kicked as a principal.
Now, if you go with "familiarity breeds contempt/negligence" theory, you switch everyone at bid time just because you don't want anyone getting "too comfy".
Then, the ever popular "lets espouse the fbc/n theory so we can SCREW with people" ruse. And the popular "oh, you want to be closer to your home, NOT GONNA DO IT" schedule master too. A power tripping scheduler can RUIN a person's work life, especially if they mess with your personal schooling schedule or purposefully keep you and your spouse apart by working you opposite shifts.
