is not, and never was, the safety of children.
The record of the Department; what it has done, where resources have been spent, simply does not substantiate the suggestion that the purpose of the department was ever about student safety.
The courage and character of individual APS Police Officers not withstanding; the APS Police Department has not and does not contribute materially to student safety.
While the danger of situations like Columbine and Virginia Tech are real; they are not likely.
Students are far more afraid of the bullies in their classrooms and on their campuses. They are far more likely to be hurt by a bully than by a mass murderer. They have a much greater need of greater numbers of trained and experienced campus aides.
The $2.7M that the leadership of the APS has misappropriated to form and maintain a Praetorian Guard, belongs to taxpayers. It does not belong to the BCSO or the APD, or whoever else steps up to defend our children while they are in school.
By what logic does a student or staff member forfeit their right to protection by both the APS and BCSO, simply by stepping on school grounds? Why should either have to pay extra for that protection?
If school districts needed police forces; they would have them. APS is the only school district in the state where the leadership has at their personal disposal, a publicly funded private police force. The police force is not certified, certificated, or accredited by anyone but the leadership of the APS/Modral.
The leadership of the APS/Modral has demonstrated that they were unable or disinclined to address the culture of corruption and incompetence in the leadership of their police department. They are still refusing to tell the public, the whole truth about what happened. They are hiding the truth even in violation of the law.
They are right now, today, this minute, violating the law. And if they are pushed on it; they are prepared to spend taxpayer support for "education" on litigation to except themselves from accountability; even to the law.
The culture of corruption and incompetence in the leadership of the APS Police; could only have existed because of a superordinate culture in the leadership of the APS, that enables corruption and incompetence.
An impartial (forensic) administrative accountability audit will reveal the truth one way or the other.
There is only one reason to oppose an audit;
and that is to oppose the exposure of corruption and incompetence;
and to oppose the exposure of the incompetent and the corrupt.
