The leadership of the APS has managed to conduct yet another
public forum for candidates for high office in the APS,
without a single candidate having been asked a single question
about their obligations as a role model.
Since role modeling and educator are inextricably linked,
it is fair to ask why the concept of role modeling is never
discussed on the record by any member or prospective
member of the leadership of the APS.
I would posit one answer. I cannot imagine, nor can anyone
else suggest, another reason.
The leadership of the APS is accountable as role models
to standards of conduct and competence that are too high
for them to meet.
A nationally recognized, accepted, and respected code of
ethical conduct is a standard too high for the leadership
of the APS to hold themselves accountable to.
So they just won't talk about role modeling at all.
The responsibilities and obligations of role models of the
standards of conduct and competence that apply to students,
are hereby rescinded by and for the leadership of the APS.
