UNM had everything to gain and nothing to lose.

If UNM President David Schmidly, UNM Athletics Director Paul Krebs, and UNM Human Resources Vice President Helen Gonzales were telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, at their news conference last week, they had everything to gain and nothing to lose by beginning an independent review of their handling of the Locksley affair.

If one the other hand, they were hiding additional incompetence or corruption manifest in a cover up, then they had everything to lose and nothing to gain from an independent review.

Their choice was, no independent review.

And now the good ol' boys want to put all this behind them.
