Is it reasonable to expect public servants to tell the truth?

The power and the resources are ours.

We entrust them to public servants who spend them in our
stead.

Is it reasonable to expect them to respond to questions
about the public interests and about their public service?

Is it reasonable to expect them to respond candidly,
forthrightly, and honestly?

Some truth is excepted from public knowledge by the law;
or by any good and ethical argument.

All of the rest of it belongs to stakeholders.
It belongs to us.

There is no line but one;

the truth, the whole truth, and
nothing but the truth;
(except as provided for by the spirit of the law,
or by any good and ethical argument.)

I am told, a politician cannot be elected and completely honest.

I think that there are people who are willing to be completely
honest.

Why should we have to settle for one who is not?
