Journal readers will read that former Manzano High School Principal Tim Whalen has found happiness as the new principal at a catholic school - link sub req
and they will find out that UNM is apparently adequately training elementary school students, but the training isn't manifest in APS' test scores - link sub req
but they will not read that the leadership of the APS steadfastly refuses to enter any venue where they would have to answer legitimate questions about the public interests in the public schools;
despite the fact that no one, and I mean no one, has suggested that there is any other reason for that refusal, other than the fact that the leadership of the APS lacks the character and the courage to hold themselves accountable for their conduct and competence as public servants.
A story which, imho, is far more newsworthy that either of the other two. Not that the other two stories are not newsworthy at all; but if you have to make a choice, wouldn't you publish the most newsworthy of the stories?
... sometime?

There's an idea floating around that PRincipals and VP are going to be replaced if test scores don't improve. This simply means the bad ones go to another school and start their crappy 5-year reigns of terror again (4-5 years until the next test results boot them again), and the good ones are punished, and leaving a school they helped to improve and build.
It's a stupid shell game that will be detrimental to the kids, I believe.
