The draft minutes for the last District Relations Committee
meeting are up on the APS website, link.
Robert Lucero was made unhappy by
my comments during the public forum,
link.
He doesn't like to be reminded that his
refusal to step up as a role model of the
APS Student Standards of Conduct
can be explained only by his personal
corruption, or cowardice, or both.
Lucero would have the committee
chair, Lorenzo Garcia,
disallow at public forum,
anything that Robert Lucero
does not want said on the record.
According to the minutes and my memory;
"Robert Lucero advised that the public forum topics inTwo problems;
committee meetings are limited to the agenda items of
that meeting."
1. Robert Lucero is not the chair of that committee and he has no authority demand anything.
It is not his prerogative to decide what will and will not be talked about at the public forum of Board Member Garcia's meeting.
2. Even if he were the chair, it would still not be his prerogative.
Past practice in regular meetings of the board, is that speakers at the public forum can talk about what ever they want to talk about. Nowhere is it written that the rules of public forums at committee meetings are different in any way, from the public forum rules of regular meetings.
The position that the rules are, or should be, different,
is utterly indefensible.
The importance of public forums cannot be overstated.
They represent the purest form of the exercise of the
constitutionally protected human right to be able to petition
one's government.
Robert Lucero does not provide
any public forum at all at meetings of
the Capital Outlay Committee,
of which he is the chair.
He does not allow public input at all
in the committee where public funds
are allocated.
Robert Lucero is an arrogant ass,
and a piss-poor, link, public servant.
