Contractors strike back against corrupt city hall.

One of the very first things that I learned about John H Bode,
is that he has a favorite quote.

It comes from the book Blackhawk down by Mark Boden.

"Warriors believe in intractable evil.
Certain forces cannot be compromised
with; they must simply be defeated."

And he has set about defeating evil.
He is shining the light of day on
"the way politics work in New Mexico".

Bode has filed a lawsuit against
Mayor Marty Chavez et al.

He swears that demands were made
upon him to provide free air travel
for Chavez and others,
and that he refused.

He further swears that
there has been retaliation.

We all know that John Bode is not the first contractor who has been shaken down; who was asked to "pay to play".

The question is whether he will be the last.

If Bode and his lawyer are able to introduce a few other,
a hundred other, a thousand other businessmen and women
who have been made to pay to play, the case is a slam dunk.

And it will never happen again.

If however, others do not stand up, the outcome is less certain.

Edmund Burke first wrote;

All that is necessary for evil to prevail in the world,
is for good men to do nothing.
According to Mark Bowden;
It's what you do right now that makes a difference.
You pick a side when, you don't pick a side.

I am most moved by something my father used to say;
Someone has to be the first one through the breech.

Well, someone has to be the second, as well;
and the third, and the fourth, and ...
