County Commission might ignore the will of the people.

Rep Richard Berry has resigned from his seat in the legislature in order to focus on his transition team, St cyr, link. The County Commission is charged with appointing his replacement. There is a democrat majority on the County Commission. Although there is a republican name on the meeting agenda, for consideration, at least a couple of prominent democrats are arguing that it would be appropriate to appoint a democrat. This despite the fact that the people in Berry's district expressed their clear intention by electing a republican to represent their interests in Santa Fe.

The legislature is already heavily stacked with democrats and has been for generations. But what the hell,
why not add one more, just for drill?

The commission can name who they want. A Democrat would be ok. It would offend Republicans like you, not Democrats like me. Who are you to determine what the "will of the people" is? And the last election in that district is not it.

I never said the commission "could not" name whomever they want.

I never said I would be "offended".

I never said it was "up to me" to determine the will of the people.

Says who? It is a republican district. If election results are not the will of the people, what is?

I agree with Ched.
I am an independent that usually voted democratic. However, this guy sounds more like a conservative, accusatory jerk.
That responder seems so ignorant and hateful. Please don't make democrats look bad. It sucks you're on "our side"....
really.
