The terms of public service are the prerogative of the public. Fundamental among those terms; public servants are accountable to the public, and to meaningful standards of conduct and competence, at least for the eight measly hours a day that we have to "trust" them with the control over our power and our resources.

APS hopes to fix accounting problems
The Albuquerque school district hopes a new superintendent will be able to fix problems in its accounting department.
Currently, an outside audit is being presented to school leaders.
Administrators called for an outside investigation after problems began surfacing.
As it turns out, the department is in such chaos, reports documenting how the district spent its money in 2006 and 2007 still haven’t been turned in.
"This is not some outside group coming in and saying shame, shame on APS. This is APS saying to APS, shame, shame on us and how are we going to fix it," said APS school board president Paula Maes.
The report claims that employees are not being trained properly on the computer system used to track payroll and funding.
