There are only two explanations as to why

there is not a single APS administrator or board member
who is honestly accountable as a role model.

1. There is not a single administrator or board member with
the character and the courage to be a role model
of the student standard of conduct.

2. There are administrators and board members who would
stand up as role models;

but who are afraid to stand up in the culture of fear of
retaliation and retribution, that was cited in a recent audit by
the Council of the Great City Schools.

The "good" boys in the APS simply are not up to the task of
taking on the good ol' boys in the APS.

The Council's audit read that
the good ol' boys in the APS were unaccountable;

"Administrative evaluations are subjective and
unrelated
to promotion and step placement".

And they wrote that anyone who takes on a good ol' boy
in the APS, takes on all of the good ol' boys in the APS.
"...there is a culture of fear of retaliation and
retribution
against ..."
anyone who tries to hold one
of the good ol' boys accountable for their conduct
or for their competence.

They take on the Modrall, Paula Maes' law firm
which spends millions of tax dollars litigating
exception to the law, for the good ol' boys in the APS.

They take on APS Praetorian Guard, an un-certificated,
uncertified, unaccredited, unsupervised, publicly funded
private police force
who will do illegal background checks,
falsely arrest people, or anything else they need to do
to cover administrators and board members asses.

There is a reason why when APS Superintendent Michael Vigil
was being arrested for aggravated drunk driving,
he wanted to call APS Police Chief, Gil Lovato.

There is a reason why why Michael Vigil was fired,
he was given over $200,000 to keep him happy.

And why when Gil Lovato was fired,
it was by means of a six month long vacation at full pay.

And the public records of it all, are still secret.

They will take on District Attorney Kari Brandenburg,
who is hiding public records as well.

And they will take on County Sheriff Darren White,
who is trying to run for congress while continuing
to hide from questions about the felony criminal misuse
of a computer data base on his watch,
by senior APS administrators.

Which brings us back to courage. It would take a great deal
of courage for any APS administrator or board member to
stand up for Character Counts, and

against the good ol' boys in the APS,
in the District Attorney's Office, and in the
Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office.

Not to mention taking on the good ol' boys that buy
their ink by the barrel; like Thomas J. Lang

or the ones who buy their broadcast range by the megawatt;
like Mary Lynn Roper, Michelle Donaldson,
Sue Stephens, and whomever at KKOB

It would take extraordinary courage indeed.

But then these are extraordinary times.

And
there is a great need for extraordinary wo/men
on the board, and in the superintendent's chair

among whose responsibilities is included;

showing 90,000 of our sons and daughters in the APS
what character, and courage, and honor; look like.

"The formation of character in young people
is educationally a different task from,
and a prior task to, the discussion of the great,
difficult ethical controversies of the day." wm bennett

I know some "good boys" at the Sheriff's Department and in the investigatory arm of the DA's office. I know some "good girls" at the DAs office, both Juvie and Adult flavor of way smart lawyers who also happen to have ethics and wear them on thier sleeves.

There are DA investigators and prosecutors who you just don't want on your case, buddy boy, you don't even KNOW how they can come down on you. Rue the day you got thier attention in a bad way on behalf of the DA.

For instance, The Prez knew his trade better than I will ever get the chance to develop mine, before he even stepped foot in New Mexico, a badass Wisconsin cop from the day. Big hulking dude with an even huger brain for detailed cop work, especially for New Mexico.

Now he has been here for a while, is doing important investigations on behalf of the DA. He is no sissified pansy, no weak sister, he's a stand up guy. Mark my words - rue the day your actions get you in his focus, Good Ole' Boys.

He will investigate you, Milwaukee style; like a sharp lawyer living inside a veteran cop just got access to your detailed financials back to your first christmas club account.

The cuffs will hurt, but it will not be on purpose, he is just a big dude who has to be careful not to hurt you as he places you in custody. Big teddy bear to nice people, to victims, and a pissed off, armed, hungry Kodiak to criminals.
