if only he would promise to hold himself honestly accountable as a role model of the Pillars of Character Counts;
a nationally recognized, accepted and respected code of ethical conduct, and
the Student Standard of Conduct.
Dr. Gallegos speaks far more earnestly than any of the other
candidates about respect for the rights of stakeholders
to participate meaningfully in the decision making process.
Which makes him far and away the best of the six.
If only he had the character and the courage
to speak candidly, forthrightly and honestly about his role,
as the senior administrative role model for 90,000 children,
of the Pillars of Character Counts. link
... a fine standard of conduct and competence for our sons and daughters,
and fine standard of conduct and competence for the Superintendent of the APS.

Why is a THIRTY-FOUR year old APS employee risking a shoplifting charge for VISINE? And while we're on the subject of questionable professional ethics, Diego's wife is a principal at Valle Vista Elementary. Guess who hired that principal at Valle Vista? He gave her the job even though she had no administrative experience, and the school was on corrective action, and the only teaching experience she had was as a bilingual resource teacher. But the icing on the cake is that within one year of getting that job she divorced her husband and then married Diego. Should we just all start singing "Let's Hear It For the (Good 'Ol) Boys" now? For the love of everything that is holy and not, DO NOT allow APS to continue the bureaucratic machine that keeps the focus away from the students, and is only concerned with maintaining the status quo and protecting their own lack of accountability and personal politics
From the grapevine of teachers, I hear that Mr. Gallegos has many of their respect. They have also commented that the visine thing shouldn't hold him back because of other great traits he has demonstrated.
I have never met the man myself, so I with hold opinion..however, if my compatriots that know him think so highly, I would give him the benefit of the doubt.

I would hope that you not wait very much past the point where he refuses to answer the question about role modeling.
or am I missing something?
Is "role model" a deal breaker or not?
I think it is.
Can't someone tell me why it is not?
Back in Old Italy, ITalian Popes asked 3 astronomer scientist if the Earth revolved around the Sun, because they believed the Bible told them the Sun revolved around the Earth. When each of the 3 scientists said "The Earth does revolve around the Sun", they were put to death. When Galeleo was asked "Do you think the Earth revolves around the Sun?", he knew the answer was "Yes", but he also valued his life, so he said "No, you are right. The Sun revolves around the earth" and he kept his life.
Paula Maes' crew of Superintendent Inquisitioners (though I agree they aren't grilled) act the same way. In order to get the Superintend position, you must make "no comment" or stand with the rest, despite how you feel.
In the world of ethics, I find that deplorable, in the world of reality, I think they will all have to do that to get the job, then the good one will try to change all that once he/she is in.
Otherwise, you answer that question truly and honestly, PAula and Co. will put your career options "to death", and we will get an ass-kisser anyway.
Ther's what we know is right and correct, and then there's reality. That's where it gets complicated.
Paula MAes is the dealer at this card table, and she cheats. What else acan one do then?
What else can one do then?
How about this...
All DAPSE members (Disgruntled APS Employees) start sending in $20 to Ched every time they are really pissed off about something the queen does. When election time comes around, we take out adds, rent billboards, radio & TV spots, letting the general population in on her dirty little secret....Modrall et. al.
