The first legitimate responsibility of power is to ensure that
the power cannot be abused.
Webcasting of government will be a model for the free world;
limited only by technology and common sense.
There will be a searchable data base of government spending,
and of the use of the people's power.
Records requests will be honored rather immediately.
Public records will be redacted according to the spirit of the law,
and by someone whose impartiality is beyond question.
There will be unequivocal standards of conduct and competence
for every public office. The standards will be impartially and
transparently enforced by an agency powerful enough to hold
even the most powerful public servant accountable, even against
their will.
A homeless person should be able to file a legitimate complaint
against a Governor, and then see that complaint handled fairly
and honestly.
That would be my plan to end the culture of corruption
Every candidate for public office must show us their their plan
for open and honest government, or expect us not to vote for them.
No plan, no vote.
Pass it on.
