Accountability is fatal to corruption.

Socrates, among others, is credited with first writing;

Power corrupts; absolute power, corrupts absolutely.
I would argue that,
it is the opportunity to abuse power without consequence,
that corrupts, absolutely.

If there is no opportunity to abuse power without being held
accountable for that abuse, there is no abuse.

Submitted then, as a corollary to the original old saw;
Accountability is fatal to corruption.
Inescapable accountability is absolutely fatal to corruption.

It can be made impossibly difficult to hide public corruption.

The culture of corruption can be ended, as simply as
institutionalizing transparent accountability to meaningful
standards of conduct and competence for politicians and public
servants, within their public service.
