The national celebration of Character Counts! Week has come and gone without notice by the leadership of the APS.

Because Character Counts! itself, has come and gone without notice by the leadership of the APS.

There was an opportunity to proactively address nearly every problem we face at school, efficiently and effectively.

That opportunity has come and gone.

The opportunity was missed because there has never been, and there is not now;

a single member of the leadership of the APS with the character and the courage to step up to honest accountability as a role model of the Pillars of Character Counts!


Character Counts! in the APS is an abysmal failure because there has never been, and there is not now a single school board member with the character and the courage to step up as a role model of the student standard of conduct.

Character Counts! in the APS is an abysmal failure because there has never been, and there is not now a single administrator anywhere the leadership of the Albuquerque public schools with the character and the courage to step up as role model of the student standard of conduct,

for even the few hours a day that they hold students accountable to those standards.

If there is any other explanation at all, I cannot imagine it.

If there is any other explanation at all, I cannot imagine why you will not explain it to us.

Explain it to us in words that a child can understand.

Explain to us, why they are accountable to the Pillars of Character Counts! and you are not.

It was met with the usual stonewalling;
half of them hiding their faces in their laptops, and
half of them facing the music.

I will give Superintendent Winston Brooks this;
he is looking me in the eye.
So is Marty Esquivel, Jon Barela, and Delores Griego.

But during "Matters of Information", after the Public Forum,
not one of them could summon the character and the courage,
to talk about character and courage.

Not one of them could summon the character and the courage
to be a role model of character and courage.


There is an elephant in the room.
Its tailed is draped over your head front to back.

If you can't see it, can't you at least smell it?
