There are many people in this country that believe slothiness and incompeteness is ok as long as the person has seniority in the system. There are others that are happy when so called "trailor trash" get power and high paying jobs, even though they are not competent to be in the position and have very little grace to their clients or constituents.
Sounds to me like Barney Fife had his banquet in Mayberry, and Monica was crowned Possum Queen.
