School Board Election set for February 1, 2011

At the school board meeting last night, the Board took the vote necessary to create an election for 3 of its 7 members, link.

Robert Lucero claims he will not run; nothing yet from Delores Griego or Marty Esquivel.

Though Lucero commands the expressed respect of a few board members; he lost mine when he stepped up as the first member of the leadership of the APS to table discussion of board members and administrators being held honestly accountable as role models of the student standards of conduct.

He regularly expresses his reservations about allowing members of the public to express themselves at public forums.

Good riddance.

Esquivel expressed concern that, "A couple of new board members could come in and create some chaos."

He is correct. Even one new board member committed to telling the truth to stakeholders about the ethics and accountability scandal in the leadership of the APS, would create chaos in a board and administration committed to hiding the inconvenient truth from stakeholders.

Somebody please step forward to run in each of these races. Albuquerque must elect a school board that will responsible to the citizens.

If we constinue to sit quietly on the sideline, we deserve what we are getting - an amateur school board.

I vote in Esquivel's district. I don't appreciate the veiled threats and cavalier treatment from his supposed leadership. I teach, I vote. And it will not be for Esquivel that is for sure!
