UNM VP salaries to be slashed!

Tip of the hat to Kate Nash, link, for providing a link to prefiled
legislation, link.

The prefiling will allow interested people time to read legislation
in preparation for the upcoming legislative session.

I came across one, I found particularly amusing; a Joint Memorial
filed by Senator Eric Griego. It reads;

A JOINT MEMORIAL URGING THE BOARD OF REGENTS
OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO TO EXERCISE
GOOD JUDGMENT AND RESTRAINT DURING A TIME OF
UNPRECEDENTED FISCAL CHALLENGE IN THE STATE
OF NEW MEXICO BY LIMITING THE SALARIES OF TOP
UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATORS.

Right, like a bunch of good ol' boys sitting around trying to figure out how to make each other rich at taxpayer expense, are going to give a rat's ass about this memorial, even if is is passed.

Give the dreamer points for his optimism anyway.

This should not be a memorial but a law. Since these good old boys cannot regulate themselves and only strive to enrich themselves, the legislators should determine what the salaries of these overpaid administrators should be. Let's get back to reality and pay the president of a university no more than $200,000 with no perks and his VP's no more than $140,000 with no perks.
