Winston Brooks and Character Counts!

Winston Brooks is the
Superintendent of the
Albuquerque Public Schools.

He is the senior most,
administrative
role model of the
Pillars of Character Counts!

And he refuses to step up to honest
accountability as a role model.

He refuses to explain, defend, or even
acknowledge his failure.

Marty Esquivel is the President
of the Albuquerque Public
Schools Board of Education.

He is the senior most, executive
role model of the Pillars of
Character Counts!

And he refuses to step up to
honest accountability as
a role model.

He refuses to explain, defend, or even acknowledge his failure.

Paula
"I will never allow an audit"

Maes, is the head honcho
on the school board.

She is also the (past?)
President of the Character
Counts! Leadership Council.

And she refuses to step up to honest accountability as a role model. She refuses to explain, defend, or even acknowledge her failure.

Why are the folks who should be singing the praises of
Character Counts! from the roof tops,
afraid even to discuss it, in public and on the record?

Except that, honest accountability to meaningful standards
of conduct and competence in the APS, is a fairy tale.

Except that, they are not now, and have no intention
to ever be held honestly accountable as role models.

Except that, the Pillars of Character Counts! are
too high of a standard of conduct for anyone in the APS,
except students.

It takes extraordinary character and courage to be
a role model of the Pillars of Character Counts!.

It takes character and courage to hold oneself
honestly accountable to a code of ethical conduct.

A week from Friday,
by a vote that could be as bad as 5 to 2 against,
the Pillars of Character Counts! will be rejected
as the standards of conduct for the adult role models
of students who are themselves expected to be role models of
honest accountability to the Pillars of Character Counts!

If they get away with it,
it will be because no one stood up to stop them.

Refusing to investigate and report upon this scandal,
is the worst thing the Albuquerque Journal has ever done.
And when the Journal goes teats up like so many
other newspapers, they for one, will deserve it.
