Rael's move may backfire.

Monahan points to Terrell's story, link, after pointing out that he, Monahan pointed it out first; Lawrence Rael is appearing in TV spots about Rail Runner safety, paid for by taxpayers, giving him name recognition in his run for Lt Gov.

There are 24 comments on the story, as of this writing, the overwhelming majority of which, express their upset with Rael's appearance in the ads, and in particular with his lame excuse about why it is all OK for him to be doing this.

"Rael, in an interview Friday, said the ads have nothing to do with his candidacy. "It's about safety.""

One commenter wrote,
"... Ethics 101 says that if there is even a HINT of impropriety, not to do it... "
Is it fair to hold Rael accountable to a higher standard of conduct than the law? Yes it is. If it were not fair in the first place, it became so when he brought up the subject of ethics and when he promised to hold himself honestly accountable to higher standard of conduct than the law.

Well here it is then, the chicken came home to roost. Another commenter wrote;
"Yes, nothing to see here folks. Move along please. Nothing to see here. Just another SLEAZY politician MILKING the NM taxpayers for his own personal gain.

Just BUSINESS AS USUAL in this great state of NM."
