Our right to know

There is a story in the Journal, link, about an athletics vice president at New Mexico Military Institute, who resigned, but will be paid $90K for services he will not perform.

According to the report;

"The circumstances surrounding South's resignation are unclear. The settlement contains nondisparagement clauses that prevent either side from making negative comments about the other. It also contains a confidentiality clause that prevents the school and South from discussing the settlement."
Oh really.

If this guy is a public servant, and these are public monies,
why are none of the circumstances any of the public's business?

How can those with the most to hide, be the ones who decide
how much of the truth will be hidden?
