Chavez's attack on Berry misses the point.

RJ Berry claims to be a successful businessman.

Mayor Marty claims the claim is dishonest because the only
business that RJ Berry owns, is no longer in business.

Berry gets no credit apparently for whatever it is that he is
doing in Cumbre Construction. Chavez' argument is silly.

Marjorie Childress, NMI link, asks the real question;

Is it appropriate for Berry to take credit for running a successful small business, while on paper he takes no credit so that his wife can claim the business is Hispanic- and woman-owned?

Is it "appropriate"? Is it honest; is it ethical?

According to Childress, Berry's campaign has not responded to NMI’s request for comment.
