APS Communications Department "suffers" cuts

APS' Communications Department has caught the Governor's eye. Governor Susana Martinez is rightfully concerned about the money APS spends on PIOs instead of teachers.

The department used to have eight employees pulling down nearly a half million dollars a year in combined salaries. They now have five, link; three employees have "vanished".

The MIA, are the three people who manage the District's website. Except that they really aren't missing; if you go looking for them, you will find they have been moved to another department. I suspect that they have been moved to APS Information Technology Department; for no other reason than to get them off the Communications Department's role.

He has vanished 38% of his highly criticized, bloated Communications Department, though he hasn't really saved taxpayers even one dime.

APS Supt Winston Brooks is great on smoke and mirrors.

He has "raised" graduation rates by changing the formula by which graduation rates are calculated. The graduation rate went up in two large bumps; one when Brooks decided that any student who failed the 9th grade would no longer be calculated in the cohort, the other when Brooks decided that high school should be a five year program instead of four. Graduation rates went up, not because APS is doing a better job, but because they playing games with the math.

It is hard to imagine the leadership of the APS being any more dishonest and deceitful.

Harder to imagine, honest investigation and reporting by the establishment media; the Journal, KRQE, KOAT, and KOB.
