According to the APS website (link) there will be a Character Counts celebration at James Monroe Middle School.
Apparently the celebration is "student driven" which is particularly encouraging. As I have written before, I believe that Character Counts is far and away, our best opportunity to reach young people on a level which will really make a difference in the lives of students, and in their education.
Also expected to attend the ceremonies are the state Character Counts coordinator Carole Smith and other state representatives.Carole Smith is an APS employee, a director, who works out of an office high up in the Uptown Administrative Complex.
Her claim to fame so far, is to prevent the Character Counts Leadership Council from discussing the fact that the leadership of the APS has abandoned the Pillars of Character Counts as their own personal standard of conduct; that they have abdicated their responsibilities as role models.
Which makes Carole Smith a perfect employee in the eyes of those in the leadership of the APS who wish to except themselves from honest accountability to any meaningful standard of conduct.
Go Carole.
