Muller-Aragón leaves school board meeting in protest.

When the APS school board met in secret today, to discuss the future of their floundering supt  School Board Member Peggy Muller-Aragón walked out of the meeting in protest over what she feels is unjustifiable secrecy and the ongoing lack of transparency.

She has protested the unnecessary secrecy before.  Every time the board voted to go into a session in secret, Muller-Aragón objected verbally.

Today, she said, she just couldn't keep protesting without effect, without taking some action.

One of her constituents objected to Muller-Aragón about the fact that she, the constituent, was not being represented in the meeting.  Muller-Aragón indicated that she understood the concern but made a difficult decision to not keep going along with something she doesn't believe in.

It is her responsibility to represent her constituents. Did she receive orders from Santa Fe to not attend the important meeting regarding the Superintendent's misconduct and abuse of power because of the Superintendent's cozy relationship with the Governor and her so-called Secretary of Education? After all, the Board's most important responsibility is to supervise the Superintendent after the Board hires one. So, she had no problem attending the meeting when the Superintendent of her and Governor's choice was hired (was that meeting open to public?), but she objects when the meeting is about his misconduct and possible discharge? Let's not forget how she continues to support the incompetent and shady Superintendent despite the overwhelming evidence of his flagrant abuse of power. Her constituents should demand her active participation on the Board. She must represent her constituents and not Susana Martinez and her so-called Secretary of Education who openly financially supported Aragon's campaign for APS Board. She is clearly not looking after her constituents' best interests. Therefore, she should step down and stop promoting the Governor's agenda inside APS.

Peggy Muller-Aragon received orders from Santa Fe to not attend last night's school board meeting. Peggy Muller-Aragon's ties with the Governor and Skandera are legendary. In July, Peggy Muller-Aragon hosted an invitation only reception for Valentino. The Governor and Skandera attended this event, along with other APS School Board Members and select members of the community and constituency from her precinct.
