Journal cover up and Dixon (transparency) award linked

APS Supt Winston Brooks
was just recognized as an
"active champion for open
government". He was given
the Dixon Award by the
NM Foundation for
Open Government
.

God only, knows why.

If you ask him to tell you
how many tax dollars were
spent to build a fancy new, and completely unnecessary new
board room at 6400 Uptown Blvd, he won't answer.

If you ask him why complaints that were filed against him under APS' whistleblower complaint system were closed without due process, he won't answer.

If you ask him why whistle blower complaints are not being forwarded to the Audit Committee for review, as explicitly and specifically required by school board policy, he won't answer.

If you ask him why he is not honestly accountable as a role model of the APS Student Standards of Conduct, he won't answer.

If you ask him to point to a time, a day, and a place where he, or someone in his stead, will simply sit and answer any legitimate question, he will not answer.

If you ask him why evidence of felony criminal misconduct involving APS senior administrators, link, has not been forwarded to the District Attorney, he won't answer.

Which brings us to Kent Walz, Journal editor. If you ask him why the Journal will not follow up on their own story about the corruption, and about the fact that the evidence has not been surrender to the District Attorney because three years later, it is still "under investigation" by the APS Police Department, a publicly funded Praetorian Guard, he won't answer.

If you ask Walz why the Journal will not investigate and report upon the ethics and accountability scandal in the leadership of the APS, he won't answer.

And now it turns out that Walz was on the NMFOG panel that gave Brooks his "open government" award.

Walz and Brooks are part of the same cover up, and one is giving the other an award for "open government".

School Board President
Marty Esquivel
was also on
the panel, though NMFOG
Director
Sarah Welsh says
he recused himself from the
decision to give Brooks the
award despite overwhelming
evidence that he does not
deserve it.

Esquivel is another one who
won't answer questions.

Ask him why he, as the senior most executive role model of the APS Student Standards of Conduct, is not actually accountable in that regard, he won't answer.

Ask him why the Audit Committee is denying due process to whistle blower complaints, he won't answer.

Ask him why there will never be an independent review of the administration of the APS, he won't answer.

Ask him why he will not enable an open and honest discussion of APS administrative standards and accountability, link, he won't answer.

You'll have to ask the NM FOG why he has a seat on their Board of Directors, but don't expect them to answer either.

When I was a kid, I bought a trophy at the yard sale. I put a piece of paper over the bronze plaque. The paper had my name and some kind of fake award I gave myself. I intended to have a bronze plaque with my info made for it. I sat it on the shelf in my room for all to see.
When my parents saw it, I could tell they were dissapointed somehow in this little thing I had done. Still, they let me work it out for myself.
After a few days, I got so sick and humbled by my own dishonesty that I took the trophy and shoved it in the trashcan, never to be seen again.
I hope Winston, and Marty, and Paula, and the board at NMFOG will throw up everytime they lay eyes on their trophies, or think even about it.
Odds are, they are still congratulating each other.
