Pepsi is listed among sponsors of a semi-secret administrative soirée at the Inn of the Mountain Gods recently.
The people who signed the agreement to give Pepsi exclusive access to students and staff members in every APS school; were likely enjoying rooms at one of the most expensive casino resorts in New Mexico.
That represents the appearance of a conflict of interest.
I am not suggesting that Pepsi underwrote gambling, drunkenness, depravity and debauchery in order to gain favor over CocaCola in the decision to make Pepsi the sole provider.
I am just saying that there is the appearance of a conflict of interest; in particular since the people who put the conference together choose not to require donors to identify potential conflicts of interest on the record;
...in diametric opposition to APS' supposed standards of conduct.
