No Man Can Serve Two Masters

In an earlier life, Marty Esquivel was a man and a lawyer who fought against corruption and incompetence in public service by fighting for open government.

Now he is part of a government body, the APS Board of Education, that is anything but open; keeping the truth secret to avoid accountability for corruption and incompetence.

Ironically, if he were not a not member of the school board, and therefore compelled to recuse himself, he would now be representing KRQE in their fight to force the leadership of the APS to surrender public records of the public corruption and criminal conspiracy in the leadership of the APS (police department).

Caught between a rock and a hard place; he is.

I don't know much about Mr. Esquivel, only what I've read on this site over the last few weeks. Therefore, I say the following from a very neutral view: many cme to APS to serve children, to do good, to "change lives/help". I have seen many administrators, students, counselors with wonderful intentions and good hearts get "blocked" aand shut out by how the system has come to be. They are often shunned by their coworkers as "not a team player" and sometimes told their "on a power trip" when all they are presenting are great ideas to help kids.
From what I read Mr. Esquivel might fit this as well. It's hard to be an effective part of a board, team or administation when you are being "left out of the loop" intentionally.
This seems to be a tradition at APS. I have certainly seen this very ting in many schools here.

I'm sorry, but it ticks me off to no end that I hear and read so much about everyone wanting to make a difference in our schools, YET they are intimidated into shutting up!
WTF! Where is everyone's balls and dignity??? That's what's wrong with everything in this Country. No one is willing to step up and fight for change ... fight for principle ... fight for our children!!!

Mr. Esquivel would have earned my respect ten fold if he learned of his rights as a board member in board meetings, and told other board members to back off when they try to stifle his efforts.
PLEASE! Somebody within APS, or entering into APS has got to show some guts and trudge through the BS with pride! Only with people like this, will we ever see change. I do believe it will make headlines and receive overwhelming community support. WE'RE LOOKING FOR A HERO!
