Public employment Task Force

There is a need to re-examine the terms of public employment.

Are pension plans too generous?
Are they out of step with current fiscal realities?
Can we afford the plans we have in place?

I have become a bigger fan of Task Forces. I used to believe they were a waste of time and effort with little reward. Now, I appreciate their ability to force issues into the open where final decisions reflect the input of a greater variety of stakeholders.

Let's do it then. Let's take a long hard look at the number of public employees, what they do for the state and for its citizens, and whether taxpayers are getting the most bang for their hard earned bucks.
