I was told once by a Journal editor, that the Journal's interest in APS School Board Elections does not begin until after filing day.
The problem with that is of course, that's at least one day too late to interest anybody in actually running for the board.
One might argue that it isn't the responsibility of the Journal to interest people in running for the school board.
It is the responsibility of the Journal to inform the democracy.
It is such an important responsibility, that the right to do so,
is a Constitutionally protected right.
An appearance of a conflict of interests and subsequent improprieties is created by the Journal's interests in keeping the election on the down-low.
If there were the coverage there should be, an ethics, standards and accountability scandal in the leadership of the APS would be exposed.
If the scandal was exposed, the Journal's part in the cover up of the scandal would be exposed.
Marty Esquivel besty and Journal
Editor in Chief Kent Walz et al.
would be exposed.
Walz is in a bind. He and the Journal cannot report credibly on the scandal without first reporting credibly on their failure to report credibly on the scandal heretofore.
