Deep-six, verb; destroy or dispose of (something) irretrievably
When the Albuquerque Public Schools adopted Character Counts!, by unanimous school board resolution, it was with a great deal of hoopla. They were nationally recognized; one of a few "flagship" programs nationwide.
So it is important to note that the Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education is about to strike a fundamental document from district standards of conduct; “the Pillars of Character Counts!”.
The Pillars of Character Counts! are a nationally recognized, accepted and respected Code of Ethical Conduct. They are an actual document.

The board intends to remove five words and a set of parentheses;
Model and promote “the pillars of CHARACTER COUNTS!” (Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship)
The new language will read;
Model and promote Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship
In striking the Pillars, they lower student standards of conduct.
As the senior-most role models in the entire school district, of honest accountability to the same standards of conduct that they establish and enforce upon students, it behooves them to set student standards as low as they can, thereby lowering their own standards of conduct.
Barring a public uprising, they’re going to get away with it.
Demand their reconsideration, in an open and honest public meeting allowing public input, of the 1994 Resolution adopting CC! which, as it has been neither rescinded nor amended, is still binding.
