If Edmund Burke was right ...

... if

all that is necessary for evil to prevail in the world,
is for good people to do nothing.

Then placing government of the people, by the people, for the people in the hands of good people who do nothing, seems ill advised.

The framers expected us to be ready, willing and able to maintain control over power and resources that belong fundamentally to the people.

They didn't provide for the possibility that we would just elect a bunch of representatives and then let them do whatever they wanted.

Much harm is caused by wrong doers. However much harm they do, more harm is done by those who let them get away with it; those who wring their hands and lament;
Somebody(else) should do something!
Somewhere around a hundred good and decent citizens have petitioned the leadership of the APS for support and assistance in creating a venue for open and honest two-way communication between the leadership of the APS and the community members they serve.

The response to the petition came in two forms;
  1. an unlawful response from School Board President Paula Maes, and
  2. an invitation to join a two and one-half months long process to help Supt Winston Brooks figure out what his goals are;
neither of which coincides with the petitioners' clearly expressed interest; establishing (sooner rather than later) open and honest two-way communications between the leadership of the APS and the community members they serve.

And, neither of which represents a good faith response to the petition.

If you examine your invitation to participate in the months long effort to help Winston Brook solidify his thinking about what he needs to do to fix what he thinks is wrong, link, you will find it reads;
"We want to hear from the community on the district’s goals and continue to focus on student achievement.”
"hear" in this context means; you will not be allowed to ask questions. If you ask a legitimate question anyway, you will be told; "this meeting is not for answering (even your most legitimate) questions". "If your don't like it, send us an email". If you persist in your questioning of politicians and your public servants, you will be asked to leave. If you don't, you will be "arrested". You will be escorted away from the public forum podium by armed members of a publicly funded private police force.

They don't want to "talk" about the district's goals; they don't want to "communicate" with interest holders, they only "listen" because they can't get out of if. And they will listen only to what they have put on "their" agenda.

Citizens exercising their constitutionally protected human right to petition their government for redress of grievances, are being denied due process.

Kent Walz and the Journal, by doing nothing, aid and abet.

Every good citizen, by doing nothing, aids and abets.
